The Best Cookie, From Kinotoya.
The LaLaLa Cookie is a premium gift from Kinotoya, a confectioner based in Hokkaido, which is world-renown for it’s mastery of sweets. The LaLaLa Cookie is exclusive to the Shin-Chitose airport; only 200 boxes are hand-assembled each day.
A first in their long history, Kinotoya invited COMMUNE to conceive a new sweet unlike any other from the ground up. Their wish was to create a confection from the standpoint not of a pastry chef, but that of a designer. Beyond creating the packaging, COMMUNE proposed the dessert, ingredients, cookie shape, and sales strategies.
COMMUNE confronted the traditional notions of how to market a cookie by going beyond packaging and creating a website solely for the LaLaLa COOKIE, elevating the cookie beyond what we imagine a cookie is.
One of my first assignments at COMMUNE, I helped to design the backside of the packaging as an intern.
This work was realized at COMMUNE under the art direction of Ryo Ueda.

LaLaLa Cookieは、世界に誇る北海道の製菓メーカーKinotoyaが贈るプレミアムギフトです。新千歳空港限定のLaLaLaクッキーは、1日200箱のみ手作りで作られています。
Kinotoyaの長い歴史の中で初めて、今までにない新しいスイーツを一から考えてほしいとの依頼をCOMMUNEが受けました。パティシエではなく、デザイナーの視点から素敵なお菓子を作って欲しいとの要望でした。
パッケージを超え、LaLaLa COOKIE専用のウェブサイトを制作することで、COMMUNEが従来のクッキーの売り方の概念に立ち向かい、想像するクッキーのイメージを超えたクッキーを実現しました。
