    Tedium: droning repetitive work done mindlessly, entrapping the individual in an endless routine. Tedium: the source of beauty that results from almost imperceptibly small forms overtaking an expanse. Details that so easily missed, but are immensely rewarding when given attention. This kind of tedium is a method of rumination, a way to clear the mind, to have unadulterated focus.I chose wood as the primary material for its variation in color and grain, resulting from a tree’s attunement to its environs. This delicate balance has developed through epochs, and the woodgrain acts as a record of this life. Common pine rests with other domestic species such as poplar, walnut, cherry, oak, and maple. These contrast with Cocobolo and Purple Heart from Central America, as well as Padauk from West and Central Africa.
        
        I act upon the wood, but do not decide the shape as the initial block is ground away. My hands wander while I turn the pieces, just as my mind does until the wood becomes stone. Sandpaper sloughs away the surface of these primordial rocks to produce a contrasting softness.This removal of layers exposes the flow of waves, the dissipation of ripples, the dancing of light. Holes intersect with lines; swirled disorder exists within fixed bands. These natural forms humbly hold the constructed vocabulary of composition.
        
        The stone shape emerges as a natural progression from both the material itself and unconscious thought; it is a reminder of the rock beaches of Mošćenička Draga, which filled my adolescent summers. I would gather salt-encrusted rocks to hold tightly those warm, blithe days.

    
    Tedium: 無心に行われる退屈な反復的な仕事、無限のルーチンに巻き込む。Tedium: 気づかないほど小さなフォームに広がりが呑まれることから生じる美しさの源。そう簡単に見逃されるが、注意を与えられたときに非常にやりがいのある詳細。このような「退屈」は、心をクリアにするための方法であり、純粋なフォーカスを持つための方法でもあります。
        
        丁寧、というシンプルな日本語は、文化的な理解であり、あらゆる交流の中で流れています。 折り紙の角を合わせて完璧な折り目を作ることから、初めて会う人同士の会話に至るまで、気配りが感じられます。煩雑さを美に超越し、瞑想になるためには、細心の注意と配慮が必要です。一挙手一投足が計算されていなければならない。木材を主な素材に選んだのは、木の色や木目の変化、それは木が周囲の環境に同調しているからである。この微妙なバランスは、時代を経て発展してきたものであり、木目はその生活の記録としての役割を果たしています。コモンパインは、ポプラ、クルミ、サクラ、オーク、カエデなどの他の国産樹種と相性が良く、中米のココボロやパープルハート、西・中央アフリカのパダックと対照的です。
        
        私は木材に行動しますが、元のブロックが削られてながら、形を決めることはありません。私の手は、木が石になるまで私の心がそうであるように、作品を回しながらさ迷えます。原始的な石の表面をサンドペーパーで削っていくと、対照的な柔らかさが生まれます。この層を磨くことで、波の流れ、波紋の散逸、光のダンスが露わになります。穴は線と交差し、渦巻いた無秩序は固定されたバンドの中に存在しています。構図の構築された語彙はこれらの自然な形に謙虚に宿している。
        
        石の形は、素材そのものと無意識の思考の両方から自然に生まれたものであり、私の思春期の夏を満たしてくれたモシュチェニチュカ・ドラガの石の浜を思い出させてくれます。私は塩をまぶした石を集めて、暖かくて呑気な日々をしっかりと抱きしめていました。
